We write specs scripts in the hopes that someone will turn them into amazing films. Most often, however, those specs end up collecting dust on a shelf. However, it doesn't have to end that way.
Thanks for the article, I’ve been thinking about revising some screen plays I’ve written a while back and was also thinking about putting them out there for some competitions but also on Amazon. How did you change the format?
Hey David - go for it, definitely a good idea. I gave formatting a lot of thought and, frankly, I hated the idea of changing format because I truly love the screenplay format. But, as you know, the format is for us, industry insiders - for anyone outside the film business it makes for a - at least initially - awkward reading experience.
I checked with a number of published screenplays - have a bunch on my shelf from Blood Simple to From Dusk Till Dawn, Get Carter, When Harry Met Sally and on and on. They're all different in style. So I picked what I found to make for most pleasant reading.
